README LOTTO
LOTTO
Double-click lotto.run for complied version or lotto to run in Basic.
EITHER: enter the next week number (don't skip any weeks) and the update
will run. Enter the winning lotto numbers for current week from 1 to 6 and
enter the bonus number as the 7th number. The program will end so
double-click the lotto.run again to continue
OR: just hit return to run the program
MENU:
2. read lotto numbers: enter week number to read and hit return
3. quit: program ends
4. main: enter latest week to view (usually one week before the current
week number). Below "data to draw___" the numbers 1 to 40 are printed with
the density (the number of times that number has been drawn since lotto
started) of each number. "total average density" is the average of all the
number's densitys from week one to current week. Below "draw___" the current
winning numbers are listed with their densities. "current average density"
is the average densities of the current winning numbers. Below "selected
numbers" the numbers this program picked are listed (with their densities)
The correct numbers are a different color. "total selected" is the number
of numbers selected and "ratio" is the variable which determines how many
numbers are selected (see 6.) "randon selection" lists 10 lines of six
numbers randonally selected from the "selected numbers". From this screen
you may hit three lettters "M","L",and "P" directly - any other entry
(including return) will bring up the menu.
Hit "M" for more random numbers shown in "random selection"
Hit "L" to send the selected numbers to printer
Hit "P" to test the probability of each line producing
one, two, three, four, five,or six correct numbers chosen at random from the
"random selection" list. Enter the number of 10's to test (enter 1000 to
test the results of 10,000 $0.50 chances - this takes about 8 min.)
5. graph: this shows the last 100 weeks of winning numbers in graph form
6. main-set ratio: This allows you to change the ratio which will alter the
number of "selected numbers" choosen. Try ratio=15 to 20 for best results.
To emulate "lucky dip" set ratio=1 and 40 numbers will be selected.
HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS: You must buy about 3.8 million 50 cent chances to
cover all the combinations of 40 numbers! On average Lucky Dip will get
about 45 fours (min. for a prize) and 2 fives.(in 250,000 chances lucky dip
produced NO sixes!)
From 6. in menu enter 20 for ratio and 93 for draw. Out of 19 selected
numbers all 7 winning numbers were selected. Note the "current average
density"=13.29 and the "total average density"=16.28. Now look at draw 102
to see one of the worst weeks and note the total and current densities.
When this program selects 30 numbers (this happens about 15% of the weeks)
using whatever ratio (usually 17 or 18) the results are on average about
20% better than Lucky Dip. This is the results of taking 10,000 chances
in 18 draws where 30 numbers were selected. When other than 30 numbers are
selected the results hardly vary from Lucky Dip and are often worse.
PLEASE NOTE: I wrote this program for fun not to win LOTTO. I am suprised
that any combination shows any improvement on Lucky Dip and do not expect
the improvement observed above to be realiable for any extended peroid of
time.
